Residents invited to community picnic hosted by the Mayor of Weymouth
Weymouth Town Council is delighted to invite residents to a community picnic at the fabulous Sandsfoot Gardens on Sunday 6 June from 2pm-4pm. The event will feature the introduction of the recently appointed Mayor of Weymouth Cllr Colin Huckle and a few words from the past Mayor, Cllr Graham Winter.
The event will feature live entertainment from the popular singing group the Decadettes. There will also be a number of local community groups represented, including Veterans Hub, Friends of Sandsfoot and Rodwell Trail, Walking for Health, Trishaw and Stretch Along.
Mayor of Weymouth Town Council Cllr Colin Huckle said:
“I am delighted that the council is organising this great event in one of our fabulous local gardens. It will be a splendid opportunity for everybody to reconnect following the lockdown. We are very pleased to welcome many local community groups and during the afternoon visitors can ask questions, take away information and take part in activities. All these activities, with the wonderfully talented Decadettes singing for us, will take place surrounded by magnificent views and invigorating green open space.”
Everybody attending is asked to respect coronavirus restrictions, including social distancing. The popular Café at Sandsfoot Gardens will be open and all attending are invited to bring a picnic and enjoy the atmosphere. A representative of the Town Council’s Parks & Open Spaces Department will also be on hand to answer questions on the magnificent floral displays, plants and trees in the gardens. A great opportunity to get some inspiration from the experts for your own garden!
Council officers and local councillors will also be at the event to answer questions on community engagement and the multiple roles and responsibilities of Weymouth Town Council.
