Your chance to visit Tumbledown during open day!

Residents are invited to visit Tumbledown community asset during an open day on Saturday 1st October and see how Weymouth Town Council is transforming it for the benefit of the community.

Visitors will get to see first-hand how the former farm has been taking shape on the ground – from the growing fields where produce is grown for veg boxes, with some supplies also shared with the Nest social supermarket. And there’s also a Forest School space which provides outdoor learning experiences for children and families.

On the day, come along and view the proposals submitted to Dorset Council last month which show how the town council would like to develop the site further. There will also be a suggestion box available where visitors to Tumbledown can share their ideas for giving the three growing fields some exciting names.

Cllr Jon Orrell, Weymouth Town Council’s spokesperson on Tumbledown, said: “Come along to the open day and learn more about the history of Tumbledown, see what progress has been made since the council took on the former farm, and view the proposals for the new buildings and growing areas.

“You can also discover how you can get involved and share ideas on shaping Tumbledown’s development for the benefit of the community and find out about the many volunteering opportunities we have available on site.”

The open day takes place from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Tumbledown on Radipole Lane, Southill. Guided walks around the site start from 1.45pm, along with nature walks with volunteer Bob Ford starting at 1.30pm and 2pm.

Please note there is no parking on site so walk or cycle if you can, or car share and use nearby parking facilities in Southill. If you have limited mobility, please email the Tumbledown Site Manager Alan Chambers in advance alanchambers@weymouthtowncouncil.gov.uk to discuss any access requirements.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to welcome dogs to this event.

Bring weather-appropriate clothing and suitable footwear for your Tumbledown adventure.
