Weymouth town centre’s Christmas lighting for 2022

Weymouth Town Council is helping to light up the town centre over the festive period!

As well as supplying and installing the tree and lights for the recent Christmas lights switch on, Weymouth Town Council has put up low energy festive LED lighting throughout the town.

The low watt LED lamps will reduce electricity consumption – 30KW down to 3KW – because they are more efficient.

Cllr David Harris, Weymouth Town Council’s spokesperson on the climate emergency, said: “It’s great to see Weymouth Town Council is lighting up the town over the festive period with low energy LED lighting. This will help towards addressing the current climate emergency and is in line with the council’s commitment to making its activities net zero carbon by 2030.

“Over the last few years, the council has introduced newer displays to add extra colour and attraction to the town centre and I hope everyone enjoys the festive season in Weymouth.”

Weymouth Town Council continues to work with suppliers and other organisations who recognise the importance of improving the carbon footprint across Weymouth and encourages everyone to reduce and recycle their output over the festive period, where possible.
