Holocaust memorial held by Mayor at Radipole Gardens
Today a Holocaust memorial service was held by the Mayor, Cllr Ann Weaving, to remember the millions of people who were killed or whose lives have been changed by this event.
The Mayor was joined by Chaplain Honorary Alderman, Rev Brian Ellis who said prayers and a reading. Local councillors and communities as well as Friends’ groups were also there.
Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Ann Weaving said, “I am honoured to have hosted this event and join the community in raising awareness for this important commemoration. It was a moving memorial service.”
This year’s theme was “Ordinary People” which reflects on the victims over the years, those extraordinary people who risked everything to save others and those other ‘ordinary’ people who helped and supported the oppressors.
