Statement in response to Home Office announcement

Following the Home Secretary’s recent announcement confirming that the Home Office plans to proceed with housing asylum seekers in floating accommodation at Portland Port, Dorset Council issued the following statement on their website.

Council Leader David Harris said: “Weymouth Town Council shares the concerns of Dorset Council and the local MP over the suitability of the location for this facility.”

Portland Town Council also issued the following statement on their website.
