Armed Forces Weekend finished with Flag Raising Service
The three day celebration of Armed Forces concluded with a flag raising service at The Weymouth Town Council offices this morning. This rounded off a spectacular weekend celebrating past, present and future armed forces.
Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Kate Wheller, was joined by local and visiting veterans for the ceremony followed by a speech where she said, “Thank you to all veterans who took part in the parade and the terrific bands who helped make the parade such a joyous occassion. And to all those who joined to watch making Weymouth’s celebration of Armed Forces Day the great occassion that it always is. Veterans and vintage military vehicles join us form all over the country join us year after year and it is always a delight to see you all.”
Armed Forces Day flag raising is part of a national initiative which took place in celebrations of our military personnel.
