Get Active Day returns as part of Weymouth Sports Festival

On Sunday 16th July, Weymouth Town Council will be hosting a Get Active Day on Weymouth Beach which is part of the annual Sports Festival.

The council are pleased to partner with Weymouth Beach Volleyball and We Are Weymouth once again this year to bring you a fun two weeks of sporting events on our award-winning beach.

One of the activities being held as part of the Get Active Day will be run by Surf Life Saving Club who will be doing a demo about how to save someone’s life in the water. This demonstration will be held at 1.30pm in the sports area section, opposite Alexandra Gardens.

Cycling Without Age will also have some of their trishaws at the event from 11am to 2pm giving out information about how people can volunteer with the group. Their volunteer pilots will also be offering some taster trishaw cycle rides so people can feel the wind in their hair along the Promenade.

Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Kate Wheller said, “I am happy to see the return of the Get Active Day on Weymouth Beach as part of the Sports Festival. This highlights the importance of staying fit and active while enjoying the views of Weymouth Beach.

“The event will be great for people to participate in free sporting activities, more details will be announced soon!”

The following week there will also be the annual Weymouth Beach Classic Volleyball Grand Slam which is on between Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd July. This event will round off the annual Beach Sports Festival on Weymouth Beach.
