Weymouth Town Council, working in partnership with the Friends of Radipole Park Gardens received just over £1 million to enhance the park and gardens from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The car park has been refurbished and expanded, offering more spaces for visitors. New play equipment was installed in the play area, and a sensory garden which provides a unique, interactive experience.

Deputy Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Caroline Nickinson said: “It will be great to see the community come together to celebrate and enjoy this beautiful new space at the celebration event on Saturday 10th August. And if you’ve been inspired by the Paris Olympics, come along and try out the free sports facilities on offer, or enjoy a walk around the park and sensory gardens.

“I would like to thank the Friends, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and Weymouth Town Council for all the work that’s gone into making this a place for families, friends, and neighbours to enjoy for many years to come.”

Sue Hogben, member of the Friends of Radipole Park and Gardens group said: “This fantastic project has been a real collaboration between Weymouth Town Council and the Friends group. We’d love everyone to come down, join in the fun, and support our local community during this exciting opening event.”

The car park will be open but space is limited so we do encourage visitors to park in the Swannery Car Park, walk or cycle to the park where there are cycle racks available. The address is Radipole Park Drive, DT3 5EZ.
