Weymouth’s bumper Festival and Events Leaflet launches ahead of summer season

Weymouth Town Council and We Are Weymouth (BID) have teamed up to bring you this year’s Weymouth Events and Festival Leaflet, which is bursting with exciting events for 2024.

From free live music sessions by the beach, to classic cars on the Prom, zombie, pirate and steampunk-themed weekends, and the return of five stunning summer firework displays over the bay, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in Weymouth.

Many of the town’s iconic events make a return including Fayre in the Square, Armed Forces Weekend celebrations, as well as a special 80th anniversary of D-Day on June 6th.

Free community events for all the family run in April, August and October, and the incredibly popular Dusk ‘til Dark event parade through the streets of Weymouth is back this September and features a world premier light display. The thrills and spills of the Lions Beach Motocross will transform the beach into a racetrack in October, and Guy Fawkes celebrations on the seafront will light up the dark November nights. Plus, the popular Elf Parade, Christmas Lights Switch-On, Steampunk Parade, Chase the Pudding event and a Christmas Day Harbour Swim all make a welcome return this December to round-off the packed programme.

Dawn Rondeau-Irvine, Chief Operation Officer for We Are Weymouth, said: “Once again we are thrilled to be sponsoring an exciting schedule of events such as Wessex Folk Festival, The 40th Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic, Dusk Til Dark, Art Exhibitions, Pirates, Zombies and all our Christmas celebrations.  Events bring visitors to the town before, during and after every occasion – all making the most of what Weymouth has to offer.

“Events encourage everyone to visit, have fun and enjoy our wonderful town, harbour and seafront. We hope you enjoy the incredible variety of free events listed in the flyer, not forgetting the incredible array of live music events, concerts and theatre also being delivered throughout 2024.”

Weymouth Town Clerk, Jane Biscombe said: “We are so proud to be bringing you a jam-packed season of events full of free things to entertain everyone taking place this year. We have organised free summer community events for all the family, as well as bringing you our popular annual events such as Armed Forces Weekend, Summer Fireworks Season, and Guy Fawkes night. We are also excited to welcome back our many visitors to Weymouth this year, and I hope the leaflet will provide inspiration for days and nights out in our beautiful coastal town.”
