More time to have your say on Weymouth’s Draft Neighbourhood Plan

Dorset Council has extended the consultation deadline on Weymouth’s draft Neighbourhood Plan.

The closing date is now midnight on Thursday 10th April, meaning there is more time for individuals and organisations to have a say on the contents of the plan and how it has been prepared.

The documents on Dorset Council’s website are the same and any comments already submitted remain valid, so there is no need to resubmit if you have already had your say.

Once the consultation ends, an independent examiner will be appointed and any concerns raised during the consultation period will be passed on to them to consider as part of the examination process. Later this year, a referendum on the final version of the plan will also be held and Weymouth residents on the electoral register will able to vote on whether they support the plan or not.

On Wednesday 26th February at Weymouth Town Council’s Full Council meeting, Councillors endorsed the Draft Neighbourhood Plan that is currently being consulted on by Dorset Council, together with the list of corrections made since Full Council met in November 2024.

They also extended the delegation to the existing Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group to represent Weymouth Town Council at the examination stage to answer any questions from the examiner or attend any hearings that are held. Any changes to the Weymouth Neighbourhood Plan suggested by the examiner will be brought back to the Council for agreement.
