Meet the team: Jane

Jane is the Council’s Town Clerk which is the Chief Executive Officer of the Council. Jane moved to Weymouth in 2018 to help set up Weymouth Town Council and has worked in Local Government since 1991.

“I started out as a youth worker and then a community worker in Surrey. Since then I’ve worked in democratic services, highways, adult social care, education, HR, legal and corporate services with various Councils. I love being a Town Clerk as it’s a historic profession with lots to learn where I get to combine my love of spreadsheets with my love of working with communities.

“Working with the residents, Councillors and officers to make this new Council the very best it can be has been my most challenging role but it is made so much easier by the positive and enthusiastic people I am lucky enough to work with.”

Jane is keen on getting more people watching and taking part in Council meetings.
