More cycle and scooter racks planned for Weymouth

Funding of £18,000 will be used to install more racks to store bicycles and children’s scooters in certain parts of the town.

They will be installed along the promenade, Greenhill, Oakbury Drive, The Marsh, Louviers Road, Wyke Playing Fields and Nothe Park and Lodmoor playing field.

Money for the racks will come from something called the Community Infrastructure Levy fund, a charge which can be levied by councils on new development in their area. It’s hoped the idea behind providing more facilities for cyclists and scooters will help promote healthy lifestyles.
Once the racks have been received, the new facilities will be installed by the summer. Further details will be announced.
