Service update following the death of Queen Elizabeth II
Weymouth Town Council will join the nation in observing the State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen on Monday 19th September.
The only council service that will remain in operation on this day are the public toilet facilities. All other services will be closed until Tuesday 20th September.
The union flag at the New Town Hall, Commercial Road, Weymouth Town Council will continue to fly at half-mast until the day after the State Funeral.
A community memorial service takes place on Saturday 17th September, Greenhill Gardens, at 11am. Everyone is welcome to attend and share memories of the Queen.
Members of the public who wish to lay flowers as a floral tribute can do so at the designated area at Greenhill Gardens, opposite the wishing well. The flowers will be removed from Greenhill on Tuesday.
We kindly request that any flowers are unwrapped, and no non-compostable items are used as the flowers are due to be composted at a later date and used to plant a commemorative tree.
Books of condolence are also available during opening hours at Dorchester’s County Hall and in all Dorset libraries, including Weymouth Library and Learning Centre.
