Town Council vacancy for Wyke Regis ward

A vacancy for a town councillor has arisen in the Wyke Regis ward with a by-election expected to take place in August. 

The vacancy follows an announcement by Becky Blake that she is standing down from the role for health reasons. Weymouth Town Council would like to thank Becky for all her work on behalf of residents in Wyke Regis and wish her all the best for the future.  

Cllr Colin Huckle, Mayor of Weymouth, said: “My thanks go to Becky for the work she has done in representing people in Wyke Regis. Now we need to find a new councillor to help make a difference and become a member of Weymouth Town Council. If you’re passionate about representing your community, then why not consider standing? It can be a very rewarding role.” 

What happens next? 

Ten people who are registered in the ward where the vacancy has arisen need to request an election is held within 14 days or no later than Monday 30th May. 

The request needs to be made to the Returning Officer, Electoral Services, Dorset Council, County Hall, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1XJ or by email to elections@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk
